How can it help my business?
Staff
We have recognised that people are most comfortable when the air
surrounding them has a temperature of approximately 21 degrees centigrade,
and having a moisture content of around 50% relative humidity.
WHY? - Quite simply our body's own cooling system functions at
its most efficient at these conditions.
When we carry out even the slightest task we produce heat - do
you know that just sitting down reading the paper that each of us
will produce around 130 watts of heat every hour - that's more than
three 40 watt light bulbs. And as we increase our activity up rockets
the heat that our body must get rid of.
The perspiration produced on our skin is there for a very important
reason: If the air surrounding the skin is dry, then the perspiration
can be evaporated and drawn into the air, and in doing so leaves
our skin and blood stream cooler.
To reproduce this for yourself as an experiment - lick the back
of your hand and blow gently on the wet patch.
If the surrounding air is damp and humid our body's simple cooling
system loses its efficiency and needs help!
Because if this situation is allowed to continue unchecked in the
workplace our concentration and productivity levels plummet.
